SCHOLARSHIP

The American Association of University Women, founded in 1881, promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive social change. It is a national association with branches in all fifty states.

The Wilmington Branch of AAUW provides scholarships for Cape Fear Community College women who are completing a two-year program and will be continuing their education at UNCW.

A scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a CFCC student who meets the following criteria:

1.     Student must be a second-year female enrolled at Cape Fear Community College and must have been accepted by UNCW. She must show maturity and be able to compete in a university setting.

2.     Preference is given to majors in the field of science, mathematics, business administration technology, communications and allied health.

3.     Students who have returned to school several years after high school will be given extra consideration.

4.     Student must have a 3.0 or higher GPA at the time she fills out the application.

5. Letters of recommendation should be written on official letterhead paper by a faculty advisor and/or an instructor who knows the student well.

A personal description of your interests, achievements, career goals, etc. must be included with this application form.  In addition, a letter on official CFCC letterhead from your Faculty Advisor or an instructor who knows you well is required.  These are mandatory for consideration.
